Replaced the closed iZEV program. Two separate tests must both pass: the final transaction value must be $50,000 or less (no cap for EVs assembled in Canada), AND the vehicle must be manufactured in Canada or a country with an active free trade agreement - which excludes China-built vehicles. Funding is first-come, first-served and can be exhausted before 2031.

Two ways to fail eligibility
  • Price: final transaction value over $50,000. Freight and PDI are excluded from that figure, and EVs assembled in Canada are exempt from the cap entirely.
  • Country of manufacture: the EV must be built in Canada or a country with an active free trade agreement. This excludes China-built vehicles - which is why the Tesla Model 3 does not qualify despite starting at $39,490, while the Berlin-built Model Y does.
