On 1 January 2027 federal EVAP drops from $5,000 to $4,000 on a new BEV, and Quebec's Roulez vert is scheduled to end. If you're already shopping, December is the cheaper month.

Quebec: Roulez vert is scheduled to end 31 December

Roulez vert pays up to $2,000 on a new fully electric vehicle in 2026. Under the current program rules it does not continue into 2027. Stacked with EVAP, a Quebec buyer gets up to $7,000 in December and $4,000 in January.

Rushing a deal in December

  • Ask the dealer in writing when they will submit the EVAP claim. A late-December delivery with a January submission gets the 2027 amount.
  • Check the final transaction value is under $50,000. Add-ons can push an eligible trim over the cap.
  • Don't let the deadline rush the rest of the deal. Compare the total in the cost calculator, not just the rebate.

FAQ

Is the EV rebate going down in 2027?

Yes. Transport Canada's EVAP schedule pays up to $5,000 on a new battery-electric vehicle in 2026 and up to $4,000 in 2027. Plug-in hybrids go from $2,500 to $2,000.

What decides whether I get the 2026 or 2027 amount?

The year is set by the date the dealer submits the EVAP eligibility assessment, not the date you take delivery. If you are buying in late December, ask the dealer to confirm the claim will be submitted in 2026.

When does Quebec's Roulez vert rebate end?

Roulez vert is scheduled to end on 31 December 2026; the new government has promised an extension that is not yet official. In 2026 it pays up to $2,000 on a new fully electric vehicle. Under the current rules, a Quebec buyer who waits until January loses that plus $1,000 of EVAP.

Can EVAP run out before 2031?

Yes. EVAP is first-come, first-served. Transport Canada reported about $1.92B remaining as of 2026-10-01.
