Ontario EV rebate, 2026

Ontario has no active provincial purchase rebate right now. Here's what you still qualify for federally.

Ontario provincial

Combined max
$5,000

Federal: Electric Vehicle Affordability Program (EVAP) (EVAP)

Up to $5,000 for a battery-electric or hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, or $2,500 for a plug-in hybrid. Two conditions must both be met: the final transaction value must be $50,000 or less (no cap for EVs assembled in Canada), and the vehicle must be manufactured in Canada or a country with an active free trade agreement with Canada - which excludes China-built vehicles. Funding is first-come, first-served and can run out before the program's official end date.

Ontario: None currently active

Ontario's provincial EV purchase rebate ended in 2018 and has not been reinstated. Only the federal EVAP incentive applies.

Home charger rebate: No province-wide program

No province-wide home charger rebate in Ontario as of 2026. Some local utilities (Alectra, Toronto Hydro, Ottawa Hydro) have run time-limited pilot rebates - check your specific utility rather than assuming a provincial program.

Federal EVAP is $5,000 on a qualifying new battery-electric vehicle. Used-EV amounts are provincial only - EVAP does not pay on pre-owned cars. Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and the territories are omitted until we have a dated official source, not a scrape. Alberta also charges a $200 annual EV tax.
