Can you own an EV in a condo in Canada?
Yes, if you can plug in most nights or charge at work. A standard 120V outlet adds about 48 km overnight. Treating a DC fast charger as your only “home” station often costs as much as gasoline - and winter makes the overnight budget tighter.

The overnight math, not the board politics
Natural Resources Canada's charger basics put Level 1 (120V, about 1.4 kW) at roughly 6 km of range per hour. In an 8-hour window that is 48 km - enough for many urban commutes if the stall has a working outlet and you plug in every night.
A typical 240V Level 2 wallbox (7.2 kW) adds about 240 km in the same window. That is the house-and-driveway setup. In a condo it usually needs a dedicated circuit, an electrical permit, and board or strata approval. We do not have sourced average condo-board wait times or typical special-assessment figures - ask the property manager before you shop for a car.
Exclusive public charging can cost as much as gas
If the only plug you can count on is a DC fast charger, the operating advantage shrinks fast. On the same 18.5 kWh/100 km reference, Ivy at $0.69/kWh is about $12.77/100 km. A mid-size gas crossover at 8.5 L/100 km and the current Ontario average pump price is about $14.87/100 km. Home overnight on Ontario ULO is about $1.05.

Winter makes Level 1 tighter
CAA's Canadian winter tests found 14–39% less range than official ratings. Cabin heat also comes from the same pack you are trying to refill overnight. A 48 km Level 1 window that covered a 40 km commute in July can fall short in January. Preheat while plugged in, and see EV winter range in Canada.
