About EV North
EV North is an independent website built and maintained in Ontario, Canada. It answers the questions Canadians ask before and after buying an electric car: what it really costs, which rebates apply, where to charge, and whether a car can handle a winter road trip.

What the site is for
Most EV content is written for the U.S. market or by someone selling a car. EV North focuses on Canada: Canadian prices, federal and provincial rebates, provincial electricity rates, home charger permits, and the winter range and charging gaps that matter on Canadian highways.
Every figure we publish comes with a source and a date, so you can check it yourself.
Where the data comes from
- Vehicle prices and trims: Manufacturer Canadian websites and build-and-price tools, checked by hand.
- Electricity rates: The Ontario Energy Board and provincial utilities' published rate schedules.
- Charging stations: The NLR / Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC) station feed, which includes NRCan's Canadian station data.
- Winter temperatures: Environment and Climate Change Canada climate normals.
- Road geometry: OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL).
- Rebates and programs: Transport Canada and provincial program pages, plus the official eligible-vehicle lists.
Prices and rates are re-checked on a regular schedule and each page shows when it was last verified. Charger data is a snapshot, so a station can be out of service even when it is listed. Treat our trip results as a planning aid, not a guarantee.
Independence
EV North is not affiliated with any manufacturer, dealer, utility, charging network or government program. If that ever changes for a specific page or link, the page will say so. Rankings and calculator results are not paid placements.
Everything here is an educational estimate, not financial, insurance, tax or legal advice. See the terms and privacy policy.
